CPLP Talks 8: Remaking the World

20 November 2021

As the end of 2021 is approaching, the CPLP Talks are dedicating a space to recognize the courage, initiatives and work of the initiatives and work of the Caux Peace and Leadership Programme Alumni throughout the past year.

We are all invited to listen to or share our experiences, stories and initiatives in our communities, drawing inspiration from the challenging call to action of: Remaking the World.

The Caux Peace and Leadership Programme Talks (CPLP Talks) is an online space where stories can be shared and connections made. This series is hosted and facilitated by Alumni of the Caux Peace and Leadership Programme as a two-way discussion.

Our speakers

Siya Myeza

Siya Myeza is from South Africa and works with marginalized communities in Cape Town on social and environmental justice issues and specifically on access to clean, equitable and affordable water. His work with the Environmental Monitoring Group focuses on creating space for ordinary citizens to engage with and influence decision makers. When he first heard about Caux people described it as a peaceful and majestic place. The feelings he experienced when he came to Caux were a huge sense of peace, tranquility and freedom. For Siya, leadership is the way a person lives his/her life. Being peaceful, caring, supportive and creative is leadership at the personal level. Everything starts there.

Sidra Raslan

Sidra Raslan is a young Syrian determined to take part in making the world and her country a better place. She believes in the power of youth and the gift of diversity, and that when these are combined with personal stories and an openness to share, they can provide a space that inspires leadership and a cascade of change – the Creative Leadership conference. Her journey with IofC began in 2016. Since then she has carried with her a piece of the Caux Palace and the people she met there. This keeps her motivated to be the best version she can be of herself. In Syria she spends her free time volunteering with youth to empower then to become active members of society. She is constantly seeking opportunities and working on ‘being the change she wishes to see in the world’.
