Geneva Peace Week 2024

This year's Kofi Annan Geneva Peace Address: Rising Peacebuilders will be delivered by Mary Robinson, first woman President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Chair of The Elders. The event will also feature a debate with young peacebuilders, including Maruee Paruja from our Creative Leadership team of young leader,s on topics such as fostering social integration, achieving equality between all genders, upholding human rights and fundamental freedoms and enhancing the role of civil society.

What strategies are effective in building confidence and trust between conflicting parties? What role does trust play in healing and reconciliation to arrive at sustainable peace? This workshop, organised by Initiatives of Change International's Trustbuilding Program and the Institute for Community-Based Sociotheratpy, will introduce participants to effective strategies and tools for building trust. Members of the TBP and ICBS will share success stories, demonstrating how they address past grievances and mistrust to pave the way for peace and social cohesion. Attendees will engage in a reflective exercise, a Q&A session and participate in an audience discussion on their trustbuilding strategies.

The Arts and Peace Encounters Event at this year's edition of Geneva Peace Week is designed as an immersive journey through different forms of artistic expression, including poetry, theater, music, and visual arts, combined with storytelling and short talks from artists, peacebuilders, and experts at the intersection of art and peace.
